Our Capabilites

Hydraulic Test Rig

Capacity: Capable of pulling and compressing up to 50t

Purposely built for proof load testing various equipment types such as bespoke fabricated lifting beams and brackets. Due to the design of our rig, we can offer testing in different angled configurations should your equipment require it, ensuring they can handle maximum operational loads at all in use configurations.

Nodding Donkey Test Rig

Specialised system for load testing equipment such as lever-operated hoists and manual chain blocks. This rig simulates real-life conditions, verifying the load-bearing capabilities and ensuring safety and reliability.

Depending on the environment your equipment is worked in, a load test during the periodic examination may be a requirement. A post load test subsequent to any repair work is also a part of our procedures.

Hand Weights and Mass Weights

Capacity: 4000kg of hand weights (ever increasing) & mass weights of 3000kg

Used for load testing equipment directly on-site, offering flexibility and convenience for any loading requirements from 10kg through to 7000kg.

Portable Hydraulic Hydra Jaw

Allows for on-site static testing of lifting eyes, such as deck plates, ensuring they are securely welded and can withstand operational stresses. Where live weights cannot be used, the Hydra Jaws is the perfect replacement for a straight pull test.

Water-Filled Load Test Bags

Calibrated water bags to simulate required loads. Ideal for load testing cranes, davits, and other lifting equipment, offering a safe and convenient method to achieve the required test weight.

Our Load Testing Process

Visual Inspection

Conduct thorough visual checks to identify any visible defects such as cracks, corrosion, defects or missing parts, referencing the manufacturers material.

Ensure all components are in place, in good condition and in accordance to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Operational Integrity Check

Test essential components like brakes, gears, and other critical parts.

Verify the functionality of any present safety features such as overload alarms, load limiters, load indicators and gauges.

Load Capacity and Performance Evaluation

Accurately measure clearances and alignment to ensure equipment operates within designated limits.

Confirm adherence to manufacturer specifications.

Confirm adherence to relevant regulations.

Proof Load Testing

Utilise our hydraulic test rig, nodding donkey test rig, portable hydro jaw set, water-filled load test bags, or dynamic weight testing with live weights to subject equipment to maximum loads (SWL, WLL or Proof Load).

Validate the strength and reliability of your equipment under intense worst-case conditions, with the required proof load if applicable.

Documentation and Certification

Review and assess previous documentation, including manufacturer manuals, design calculations, inspection reports, and maintenance records.

Issue a comprehensive Report of Thorough Examination detailing inspection procedures, any load test work that has been applied, results, and expiration dates.

Provide a detailed report for any equipment that fails the examination or requires repairs to become compliant.

Destruction Testing

Our destruction testing services go beyond standard load testing by subjecting equipment to failure conditions to understand its breaking point.

This helps in:

Identifying Maximum Load Capacity

Determine the ultimate load capacity and failure point of equipment.

Improving Design and Manufacturing

Provide valuable insights for enhancing the design and manufacturing of robust and reliable equipment.

Ensuring Safety Compliance

Confirm that equipment meets or exceeds industry safety standards and regulations.

Benefits of Load Testing and Destruction Testing

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is proof load testing?

Proof load testing is a type of performance test where equipment, structures, or components are subjected to loads that are higher than their normal operating capacity, but within their maximum load rating. This test ensures the item can safely handle the maximum load it is designed for without failure.

Destruction testing, also known as destructive testing, involves applying loads or stresses to an item until it fails. This test helps determine the maximum load capacity, identify failure points, and understand the behavior of materials and components under extreme conditions.

These tests should be conducted by trained and qualified professionals with the necessary expertise, equipment, and facilities to perform the tests accurately and safely.

During a proof load test, the item will be subjected to gradually increasing loads up to the specified proof load. The process is carefully monitored to ensure the item performs as expected without any signs of failure or excessive deformation. Detailed data is recorded throughout the test.
